Our Family Story
Connect With Stories began with a simple but life-changing discovery.
When my father developed Alzheimer’s disease, our conversations became increasingly difficult. Like many families facing dementia,
I found myself asking questions that he could no longer answer.
More and more often, his response was simply: “I don’t know.”
Everything changed when I stopped focusing on what
he had lost and started looking for what remained.
One day, I shared a picture book that included photos from our family’s life. As he turned the pages, something remarkable happened.
He became engaged, excited, and fully present.
Soon I discovered that although dementia had affected many of his memories, he could still read. That skill, learned long before his illness, was still there.
I began bringing him picture books, Montessori materials, and simple games. Together we laughed, read, played, and reconnected. What had once felt like a world of loss became a world filled with moments of joy, purpose, and connection.
The transformation extended beyond our family. Caregivers, nurses, and visitors were drawn into the experience. Instead of withdrawing, my father began sharing stories, reading aloud, and engaging with those around him.
The final months of his life became some of the
most meaningful moments we ever shared.
That experience inspired a larger vision.
We created Connect With Stories to help people of all ages connect through stories, memories, music, art, creativity, and shared experiences.
At its heart, Connect With Stories is about creating connection, one story at a time.
Because stories do more than entertain us.
They help us remember who we are.
Our Mission
We bring heart to dementia care by using books and sensory props to spark joy. By focusing on stories from the age of remembrance—ages 10 to 30—we help families rediscover lost memories and bond across generations.
